Election Results – BWF Para Badminton Commission (2026 – 2029)

The election for the BWF Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission (November 2026 – November 2029) took place online over a 48-hour period, Friday to Sunday.

Those eligible players who registered in advance were able to login and vote online. A total of 148 Para badminton athletes took part in the voting. There were 6 vacant position and a total of 14 candidates  for the elections.


BWF Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission 2026 – 2029

BWF is pleased to announce the six-person Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission elected on the weekend.

The Commission is diverse in its representation of the Para badminton athlete community with three new members, and three members re-elected from the previous Commission – Amy Burnett, Daniel Chan and Cathrine Rosengren.

Members of the new Commission come from four continental regions and a diverse range of Sport Classes.


Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission Election Results

The election result is decided taking into account a number of factors:

  1. Total votes– received by each candidate.
  2. Gender– male / female candidate with the highest number of votes are elected first.
  3. Sport Class– at least 1 from each – Standing / Wheelchair Sport Classes.
  4. Region– there must be athletes from at least 3 regions.

The new Commission will meet soon to elect the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Commission.

The Chair of the Commission becomes a BWF Council member to represent the views of the Para badminton athlete community on Council.

The role of the Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission is to:

  1. liaise with players, organise player meetings at tournaments and canvas their views and opinions on rules and regulations, development and direction of Para badminton.
  2. represent the views of Para badminton athletes at Para Badminton Commission and Council meetings through its representatives.
  3. report back to the players on outcomes of meetings and representations made at the at meetings.
