Social Media Safeguarding Advisory for Players and Stakeholders

Please find attached a Social Media Safeguarding Advisory from the BWF and its online safeguarding partner, Signify.

This is in response to a recent online trend linked to X’s built-in AI assistant/chatbot Grok.

Grok’s image-editing feature is being misused for ‘digital undressing’ where users are generating non-consensual sexualised images of real people — including minors — at an alarming scale.

Signify, which represents several sports and brands, has also reported an upsurge in the number of AI-generated images targeting players and athletes across multiple sports.

The BWF and Signify wish to provide the badminton community with a detailed background of the issue and recommended action points.

We kindly ask that you share this communication and attached advisory with your players, teams, coaches, staff, clubs and community members.

Thank you.
