Integrity Overview

Every athlete has the right to compete in clean and fair sport. Doping, match fixing, illegal betting and corruption are threats to the integrity of sport. These threats risk the future of sport.

The decisions made by players, coaches and technical officials today will affect badminton’s future. Their actions need to protect the integrity of badminton.

BWF’s “i am badminton” integrity campaign is about players, coaches, technical officials and administrators working together to protect our sport from threats like doping, match fixing, illegal betting and corruption.

The BWF anti-doping and anti-match fixing programmes are designed to educate players / the entourage, monitor, conduct testing and investigate any possible cases of doping or match fixing in badminton.

Spirit of Sport

The BWF Integrity  Programme is about promoting a healthy and fair approach to badminton competition.

The spirit of sport is the celebration of the human spirit, body and mind, and this is reflected in the values we find in, and through sport. These values include:

  • Ethics, fair play and honesty
  • Health
  • Excellence in performance
  • Fun and joy
  • Teamwork
  • Dedication and commitment
  • Respect for rules and laws
  • Respect for self and other participants
  • Courage
  • Community and solidarity

Your Responsibility

Doping and match-fixing are fundamentally against the spirit of sport. Everyone has a responsibility in promoting clean and fair competition.

Under BWF rules, everyone has a responsibility to follow the anti-doping and anti-match fixing regulations.

  • Players (badminton / Para badminton)
  • Support personnel – coaches, trainers, managers, team doctors
  • Technical Officials
  • Administrators of the sport
