New Para Badminton Award 2026 / Governance Regulations Update
Further to our update on the Laws and Regulations of 25 November 2025 (linked here), please find enclosed the following updates and reminders of regulations approved by Council at the end of year meeting 2025:
- New Para Badminton Player Award (Awards Regulations – new Clause 2.4)
- Governance Regulations – view the marked-up versions – BWF website
- New Para Badminton Players Award
At the end of year meeting in late 2025, the Council approved a new award – a Players’ Player of the Year Award (Para Badminton). BWF implemented a similar award for badminton players in late 2024, and this is the equivalent award for Para badminton players.
There are two awards:
- Para badminton Players Player (men)
- Para badminton Players Player (women)
The award recognises exceptional achievements on court, outstanding contributions and significant positive impacts players make off court.
This is a player driven award and players vote for their peers to determine a winner.
The eligibility period is 01 December 2025 – 30 November 2026 and the world rankings of 14 October 2026 will determine who will be candidates and who can vote.
Please see the Para badminton Player Awards section of the BWF website for a summary of the main points – detailed information on how the list of candidates is prepared, who can vote, and how voting takes place.
The complete Awards Regulations can be found under Section 1.2.3 – BWF Statutes.
The winners of the Para badminton Player Awards are announced at a gala dinner in December each year.
- Governance Regulations Update
At the end of year Council meeting in 2025, a range of governance regulations were approved.
These included amendments to the following regulations:
- Federation Rules and Procedures
- Judicial Procedures
- Badminton Code of Ethics

The “marked-up” versions of these regulations can be accessed on the BWF website – Key Decisions of the AGM and Council. You will be able to see what amendments were made to each regulation.
Finally, the Council also approved a proposal to the AGM to amendment the BWF Constitution and this will be on the AGM agenda to be circulated on Friday 6 March.
