Decision Recognition and Enforcement
Article 48 of the BWF Judicial Procedures establishes the principle of mutual recognition and enforcement of disciplinary decisions within the BWF membership.
Decision by BWF Disciplinary Panels
All BWF Members must recognise and enforce decisions issued by:
This means that any individual who is suspended by either of these panels may not participate in competitions organised by any BWF Member or their Affiliates (e.g., clubs).
Individuals who are currently suspended are listed on the BWF Barred List.
Members are responsible for ensuring that individuals under suspension do not participate in sanctioned activities within their jurisdiction.
Decisions by BWF Members
Disciplinary decisions taken at national level may be recognised by the BWF and extended worldwide, provided that:
- the Member is in good standing;
- the decision was taken in accordance with due process; and
- the underlying breach would also constitute a breach under the BWF Statutes.
Recognition by the BWF is not automatic and is subject to review under Article 48. Once recognised by the BWF, such decisions have worldwide effect and must be enforced by all Members.
Notification Obligations
All BWF Members must notify the BWF of disciplinary decisions taken at national level within 14 days of the decision being issued.
Notifications should be sent to: [email protected]
The BWF expects to be notified of all decisions relating to ethics, integrity, safeguarding, and other disciplinary matters.
Timely notification ensures consistency, legal certainty, and protection of the sport.
