Invitation to Tender – BWF World Training Centre

Overview

This strategic initiative forms part of our long-term commitment to elevate athlete performance globally and strengthen high-performance pathways across all continents.

The establishment of the BWF World Training Centre is essential to address the increasing competitive imbalance in global badminton and to accelerate the development of future world-class athletes.

While some nations already benefit from advanced sport science systems, high-performance coaching, and year-round access to elite training environments, many promising athletes lack consistent exposure to such opportunities.

The WTC will provide a centralised, professionally managed high-performance hub that supports athlete development irrespective of geographic or resource limitations.

The centre will serve as a catalyst to strengthen and complement Continental Confederation pathway programmes, support Para badminton inclusively, and offer structured transition pathways for players into coaching and leadership roles.

By embedding cutting-edge scientific support, best-practice coaching, and elite benchmarking mechanisms, the WTC will play a pivotal role in raising performance standards globally and ensuring long-term sustainability and fairness in athlete development across all Member Associations.
