Nominations Close Friday 26 September Athletes’ Commission Elections 2025

This is a final reminder that the deadline to nominate athletes for the Athletes’ Commission elections 2025 is midnight KL time, this Friday 26 September.

There are 6 positions open. The Nomination Form is attached. See the details below.

1. Who can nominate an athlete for the elections?

Nominations can be made by:

1. An “Active Player” – those in the top 200 of the BWF World Ranking as of 25 July 2025 [Please note – a athlete / player cannot nominate themselves];
2. A BWF Member Association.

2. Who can be a Candidate for the Elections?

Candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

• Must be 18 years of age or older on 28 November 2025.
• In ‘good standing’ with their Association / Not serving a period of ineligibility.
• Active Players – on the top 200 of the BWF World Ranking as of 25 July 2025 – OR

Inactive Players – those that have retired from Badminton by not competing in any BWF sanctioned tournaments in the last two years from 25 July 2025 and/or whose Member Association has submitted the Player Retirement Form to the BWF.

To be eligible for nomination for election, the Inactive Player must have:

• Competed in badminton in one or more Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020 / Paris 2024) OR
• Competed in one or more BWF World Championships in these years 2017 – 2024.

• 4-year term – Athletes’ Commission (2025 – 2029).
• The new Commission elects the Chair and Deputy Chair.
• The Chair (after the vetting process) becomes a BWF Council member (2025 – 2029).
