Call for Nominations – Athletes’ Commission Elections 2025

The term for the BWF Athletes Commission (2021-2025) will finish at the end of the year.

The BWF is calling for nominations for the Athletes’ Commission (2025-2029) elections 2025 which take place 28-30 November 2025.

The BWF has published information about the elections in 8 languages – English, Chinese, Indonesian, French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Thai.

About the Commission

  • 6 positions
  • 4-year term – Athletes’ Commission (2025-2029).
  • The new Commission elects the Chair and Deputy Chair.
  • The Chair (after the vetting process) becomes a BWF Council member (2025-2029).

Who can be Candidates for Elections?

  • 18 years of age or older on 28 November 2025.
  • In ‘good standing’ with their Association / Not serving a period of ineligibility.
  • Active Players – on the top 200 of the BWF World Ranking as of 25 July 2025.
  • Inactive Players – those that have retired from Badminton by not competing in any BWF sanctioned tournaments in the last two years from 25 July 2025 and/or whose Member Association has submitted the Player Retirement Form to the BWF.

 

To be eligible for nomination for election, the Inactive Player must have:

  • Competed in badminton in one or more Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020 / Paris 2024) OR
  • Competed in one or more BWF World Championships in these years 2017-2024.

Who can Vote?

  • 18 years of age or older on 28 November 2025.
  • In ‘good standing’ with your Member Association / Not serving a period of ineligibility.
  • Be an “active player” as described above.
  • Have registered to vote by the deadline – midnight KL time – Sunday 23 November.

 

The elections will be conducted electronically. Registered voters have 48 hours to vote:

  • Polls Open – 12:00 noon Kuala Lumpur time Friday 28 November
  • Polls Close – 12:00 noon Kuala Lumpur time on Sunday 30 November
