Call for Nominations – Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission Elections 2025

Dear Member Associations / Para-Sports Organisations Recognised by BWF

The term for the Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission will end in December 2025.

BWF is calling for nominations for the election of the Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission (2025 – 2029). Elections take place on 14 – 16 November 2025.

Key Points on the Commission Elections 2025

About the Commission

• 6 positions
• 4-year term – Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission (2025 – 2029).
• The new Commission elects the Chair and Deputy Chair.
• The Chair (after the vetting process) becomes a BWF Council member (2025 – 2029).

Who can be Candidates for Elections?

• 18 years of age or older on 14 November 2025.
• In ‘good standing’ with their Association / Not serving a period of ineligibility.
• Active Players – on the Para Badminton World Ranking of 11 July 2025.
• Inactive Players – those that have retired from Para badminton by not competing in any BWF sanctioned tournaments in the last two years from 11 July 2025 and/or whose Member Association has submitted the Player Retirement Form to the BWF.

To be eligible for nomination for election, the Inactive Player must have:

• Competed in badminton in one or more Paralympic Games (Tokyo / Paris) or
• Competed in one pr more BWF Para Badminton World Championships (2017 – 2024).

Who can Vote?

• 18 years of age or older on 14 November 2025.
• In ‘good standing’ with your Member Association / Not serving a period of ineligibility.
• Be an “active player” as described above.
• Have registered to vote by the deadline – midnight KL time – Sunday 9 November.

The elections will be conducted electronically. Para badminton players must register to vote. Registered voters have 48 hours to vote:

• Polls Open – 12:00 noon Kuala Lumpur time Friday 14 November
• Polls Close – 12:00 noon Kuala Lumpur time on Sunday 16 November
