Tribute to Federico Valdez
BWF announces the passing of former IBF / BWF Vice President Pan Am, Federico Valdez on Sunday
6 July 2025.
We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the extended Valdez family.
Frederico Valdez was IBF / BWF Continental Representative for Pan Am from 1996 to 2002 and IBF / BWF Vice President Pan Am from 2002 to 2005 and was Badminton Pan Am’s fourth President from 1995 to 2003.
An international referee from the early 2000’s, Federico refereed at a wide range of top-level international tournaments as BWF Accredited Referee including the BWF World Junior Championships, All England Badminton Championships, Japan Open, Denmark Open, French Open and Pan American Badminton Championships until his retirement as a BWF Referee in 2022.
A former player from Peru, Federico won a total of 29 national titles between 1977 and 1998 and won the men’s doubles silver medal at the 1993 Pan American Badminton Championships.
