New Para Badminton Athletes Commission Chair
Daniel Chan (HKG), a two-time Paralympian and bronze medallist (Tokyo 2020) and silver medallist (Paris 2024), is the Interim Chair of the BWF Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission and a BWF Council member.
Previous Chair, Richard Perot, who was Chair since 2013, was elected BWF Vice President Para Badminton at the BWF AGM in Xiamen in April. This created a vacancy on the Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission.
Daniel will serve as Interim Chair until the Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission elections are held in December.
Elections will be held for both the Athletes’ Commission and Para Badminton Athletes Commission at the end of 2025. Details will be provided at the end of June.
Role of the Para Badminton Commission
Reporting to the Events Committee and Council, the Para Badminton Athletes’ Commission Chair represents the views of the different groups of players, ensuring their voice is heard and various perspectives taken into consideration in discussions and decision making on events related topics – competition regulations, tournament structure, calendar, athlete services at tournament, athlete experiences and logistics.
