BWF and Qingdao Sign Cooperation Agreement for International Exchange Centre and Museum
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) celebrated a landmark partnership with the Chinese Badminton Association, Qingdao Sports Bureau, Qingdao West Coast New Area Management Committee, and Qingdao Shiyu Sports Co., Ltd with a Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony in Xiamen, China on Tuesday 29 April 2025.
The event formalised a consensus of understanding for the development of the Badminton World Federation Qingdao International Exchange Centre and Badminton World Federation Museum. The facility will now carry the BWF name, logo and branding.
The Qingdao project has been in the works for several years and is now in the next phase of delivery.
The vision is for the Badminton World Federation Qingdao International Exchange Centre and Badminton World Federation Museum to become a regional and global hub for badminton.
This includes the prospect of staging major international tournaments in Qingdao and the unveiling a Centre of Excellence with world-class training facilities and accommodation.

BWF President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul said: “With the establishment of the BWF Qingdao International Exchange Centre and the BWF Museum, we have an opportunity to support the growth and promotion of Qingdao as a vibrant badminton destination.
“I look forward to participating in future badminton events and activities organised in Qingdao.
“The memorandum of understanding and the agreement signed today reflect our shared hopes for the future and signals the beginning of new possibilities for badminton.”
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Badminton Association President and BWF Council member Zhang Jun, Zhao Shengcun, Vice Mayor of Qingdao Municipal Government, BWF Honorary Life Vice Presidents Poul-Erik Høyer and Torsten Berg, BWF Vice President Asia, Jassem Kanso, and BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund.
