Message from the BWF President – Ethical Conduct of Election Campaigns / BWF Elections 2025 – Nominee Withdrawals / Acting BWF Vice President Europe Appointed

  1. Message from the BWF President – Ethical Conduct of Election Campaigns

 Dear Members

As you know the Nominees Lists for the Council elections 2025 was published on 11 December 2024, and from that time, election campaigns started for those seeking to be elected to the BWF Council.

It has been brought to the attention of the BWF that some Member Associations have received a list of candidates for election as Council Members and that this list was accompanied by a misleading claim suggesting that it was created by a named candidate in an effort to influence the voting of Member Associations.

The distribution of such misleading misrepresentation, which falsely implies that the list originated from specific candidates, can only be considered an unethical practice and misattributing the list to others without consent is unacceptable.

Such behaviour can constitute a serious breach of BWF ethical standards and general professional conduct.

As a result, we strongly urge all nominees, Member Associations and stakeholders related to the upcoming BWF elections to uphold the highest standard of ethical behaviour to ensure a fair election process and guarantee the BWF Council is proudly elected based on true democratic principles.

The Code of Conduct for Candidates for Elections not only provides guidance for candidates themselves, but also for the badminton community. The Code provides guidance on how candidates should conduct their campaigns and the role of other people and organisations in such campaigns. Election campaigns should be run with dignity, moderation and professional conduct.

With sincere wishes

Poul-Erik Høyer
