BWF AirBadminton Tournament Structure 2025 – Save the Date

Following the Membership’s growing interest in AirBadminton competitions, the BWF is delighted to present the international tournament structure in 2025.

The creation of an AirBadminton international tournament structure will provide a new platform for events to showcase the sport in an innovative and exciting way while offering memorable experiences to local communities all in one place.

The tournaments aim to combine exciting competition with a festival approach and evening entertainment, which has the potential to engage with new audiences and grow the badminton community worldwide.

Moreover, this innovative AirBadminton tournament structure opens new avenues for players to compete and achieve success. AirBadminton, as the new discipline of BWF, provides a unique opportunity for the global badminton community to expand its reach.

AirBadminton International Tournament Structure 2025

Continental Championships 2025

There will be four Continental Championships taking place this year for the five continents.

The tournaments will include the following events: Team Relay, Women’s Triples and Men’s Triples.

The highest-ranked teams from the Team Relay event in each Continental Championships will qualify and be invited to compete in the first BWF AirBadminton World Cup 2025.

The BWF and/or the Continental Confederation will distribute detailed information and invitations for each Continental Championship.

BWF AirBadminton World Cup 2025

The BWF inaugural AirBadminton World Cup 2025 will take place from 13 to 16 November 2025 in the United Arab Emirates.

The following events will be played at the BWF AirBadminton World Cup 2025: Team Relay, Women’s Triples and Men’s Triples.

Women’s and Men’s Triples teams will be composed of already qualified teams from the Team Relay event.

Regulations and Scoring System

The scoring system for each event is as follows:

Team Relay: Each tie will consist of four matches – Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Triples, and Men’s Triples. Each match will be played, in a relay format, until one of the teams reaches 15 points, 30 points, 45 points, and the team reaching 60 points first will win the tie.

Women’s and Men’s Triples: Best of five games to nine points.

Other AirBadminton Tournaments (National, International, Regional & Others)

In 2025, the BWF will continue supporting national AirBadminton tournaments and will launch the second edition of the Equipment Support Programme in May.

Furthermore, the BWF also encourages Members who wish to organise regional and international tournaments to contact us directly.

With the 2025 AirBadminton Competition Structure in place, our goal is to expand the tournament framework, offering more opportunities for Members, teams, and players to participate in BWF Sanctioned tournaments, ultimately establishing an inclusive national and international competitive ecosystem for AirBadminton.
