YONEX BWF World Junior Championships 2024 – GET READY: Player Information, Awareness, Education

As you know, the YONEX BWF World Junior Championships 2024 will be hosted in Nanchang, China:

• Mixed Team Championships (Suhandinata Cup) 30 Sep – 05 Oct 2024
• Individual Championships (Eye-Level Cups) 07-13 Oct 2024

Following the success of last year’s activities, BWF staff will once again be present to share information on:

1) integrity (anti-doping / anti-match manipulation)

2) educational opportunities (dual-career programmes and career orientation).

A virtual meeting for Team Managers on Wednesday 18 September at 20:00 (8:00PM) Kuala Lumpur time will help them get ready.

Please see below and pass this information on to your Team Managers and Coaches.

1. Player Education & Dual Career Information

The BWF Player Education and Dual Career information booth will operate from
30 September to 09 October 2024. In addition, IOC Athlete365 Career+ Self-Discovery Workshop sessions will be offered for players who register in advance. Through one-on-one conversations, team focus groups, and workshop sessions, players will:

• learn how they can successfully combine a playing career with further education
• discover tools and resources to help them develop beyond their playing careers
• explore how their unique attributes can translate into a successful career beyond sport

The BWF has a wide range of programmes and scholarships available for athletes who are looking to advance their studies and develop their skills while they continue to train and compete.

2. Integrity Awareness – iZone Activities

The iZone will offer fun activities to help players and Team Managers build integrity awareness (anti-doping / anti-match manipulation).

The iZone at the YONEX BWF World Junior Championships 2024 will offer:

• Player information / engagement
• Highlight where to get information
• Activities in the areas of integrity – anti-doping quiz, discussions around anti-match manipulation
• Awareness / fun / opportunity to share experience on social media – Instagram

Every team / player must visit the iZone during the Championships.

3. Information for Team Managers

The BWF will send an invitation to Team Managers to attend a one-hour virtual meeting. This will provide information on how Team Managers can best support their players in taking advantage of these opportunities.
