Request for Proposals to host WJC 2024, 2025 and 2026

The BWF is inviting BWF Members to submit their application(s) to host BWF Major Championship – World Junior Championships (WJC) in the period 2024-2026.

Please note that there will be two timelines to bid for these World Junior Championships:

• For the 2024 edition, the deadline for submission of applications is shorter, because the planning process is to be started soon.
• For the 2025 and 2026 editions, the deadline for submission of applications is longer.

Please see the timelines below and in the attached RFP document. The process for application is described at the end of this email.

Timeline for the 2024 World Junior Championships

The timeline for the 2024 edition of the World Junior Championships is as follows:

• 16 October 2023: Deadline for submission of Bid Application to the BWF (see Bidding Form).
• 3 November 2023: Shortlist prepared for the BWF Council & confirmation of bidding organisations to present to BWF Council.
• 11 November 2023: Decision to be made by the BWF Council during the Council session of November 2023 in Kuala Lumpur (the BWF will confirm if bid presentations will be possible/required).

The timeline for the 2025 and 2026 editions of the World Junior Championships is as follows:

• 1 December 2023: Deadline for submission of Bid Application to the BWF (see Bidding Form)
• 26 January 2024: Date by which any necessary site visits are completed and shortlist is prepared for the BWF Council.
• 1st or 2nd quarter 2024: Decision to be made by the BWF Council in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2024. Exact time and more detailed information around the presentation to be announced at a later time. Once Council approves hosts for BWF World Junior Championships 2025 and 2026, the Hosts and the BWF will sign a Hosting Agreement as soon as possible after the decision has been made.

Process

Member Associations may submit applications for different editions of the WJC.

If applying for the 2024 WJC, please indicate if you wish to be considered for the 2025 and/or 2026 editions, should you be unsuccessful with your bid for 2024.

Please also note that the BWF may actively approach Members who have previously hosted BWF Major Championships or who represent new potential markets, with an invitation to the BWF Major Championships Consultation Process.
