Emma Mason Steps Down from BWF Council
BWF gives notice that Emma Mason has decided to step down from the BWF Council, effective immediately.
Following the recent announcement that Emma has accepted the appointment to be the interim CEO of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) from 1 November 2023, Emma considered the additional responsibilities and her other commitments and came to the difficult decision to step down from the BWF Council.
BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer said that “Emma has been a valuable member of the BWF Council with a background in sports law and she has contributed significantly to the work of Council, especially in development of BWF policies related to governance and ethics.”
Emma first joined the BWF Council in March 2013 after being elected by members of the Athletes’ Commission to lead the Commission as Chair and served on Council for two years until 2015. Emma was elected to the BWF Council in her own right in 2017 and was re-elected in 2021 with her term extending to 2025.
Emma was Deputy Chair of the BWF Governance and Ethics Technical Commission since 2017 and Deputy Chair of the BWF Governance and Ethics Committee (formally the Administration Committee) since 2019.
Emma would like to express that it has been a privilege to be able to contribute to badminton over the years and gives her thanks to all Member Associations for their support over the last 10 years.
BWF wishes Emma the very best in this next step in her journey.
