Notice – Postponement of Para Badminton World Circuit 2021

On 6 March 2020 (linked here), BWF announced a new tournament structure for international Para Badminton competitions from 2021.

In view of the global impact of COVID-19 and the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games until 2021, the BWF is postponing the implementation of this new tournament structure until 2022.

As qualification for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will continue in 2021 with Spain as the last qualification tournament in March 2021 (linked here), it is better that the current structure and regulations continue to ensure consistency in the way tournaments has run throughout the qualifying period.

It is also expected that the postponement of the Paralympic Games to 2021 will make it difficult to establish the envisaged calendar structure, hence the decision to postpone the implementation of the new tournament structure until 2022.

Any tournaments hosted in 2021 will therefore run the same way as they have with the current regulations. Those who are interested in hosting a para badminton international tournament in 2021 may download the bid document (link) and submit to the BWF by Friday 31 July 2020.
