Senior Coach Sudhakar Reddy Passes Away

Senior Indian badminton coach Sudhakar Reddy passed away due to a suspected cardiac arrest in Katowice, Poland, yesterday.

Gujjula was competing at the BWF World Senior Championships in the 55+ age group and is believed to have suffered a heart attack following his mixed doubles match on Monday morning Poland time.

As a coach in his home state of Andhra Pradesh, India, Reddy spotted and nurtured several players, among whom the most successful were Indian internationals Kidambi Srikanth, Kidambi Nandagopal, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Ruthvika Shivani. Reddy was also a fairly successful player in the senior category.

Reddy had worked with BWF’s Shuttle Time programme in the UAE, besides lending his expertise to various academies and programmes in the region.
