Nominations – BWF Appeals Panel

The BWF is calling for nominations for the BWF Appeals Panel 2017 – 2021.

The Nomination Form can be downloaded from the BWF AGM 2017 page (linked here).

Nominations can be made by BWF Members, and must be sent to the respective Continental Confederation to reach no later than Monday 23 January 2017.

Each Continental Confederation will coordinate the process, and provide a final list of 2 – 5 nominees together with the nomination forms. The BWF Council will then make a proposal to the AGM 2017 for its consideration.

Nominees :

  • must have a knowledge of badminton;
  • may have a legal background / qualifications in law and/or be a practicing lawyer / judge
  • cannot be a BWF Council members, BWF staff, Continental Confederation Council members or Continental Confederation staff.

Clause 31.6 of the BWF constitution states:

“Appeals may be considered by the Appeals Panel. The Appeals Panel is appointed by a General Meeting upon recommendation by the Council. No less than ten (10) members, two (2) from each Continent are appointed to form a pool of Panel Members. Federation Council members, Federation staff, Continental Confederation Council members and Confederation staff may not serve on such a panel”.

“Each appeal shall be considered by a three (3) person Appeals Panel, one Panel member being selected by the appellant. Each arbitrator shall have a knowledge of the sport, and at least one (1) member of the each three (3) person Appeals Panel to consider an appeal must be legally trained”.
