Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 – One month to go!
We are pleased to confirm that more than 200 athletes from 70 countries will compete in the upcoming Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany from 17 – 25 June 2023.

Special Olympics World Games Training Pledge Signing
BWF and Special Olympics International (SOI) launched the World Games Training Pledge in 2021 to encourage Members Associations and National Special Olympics Programmes with confirmed athlete quota, to collaborate with each other through the signing of a joint pledge of support, in the lead up to the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 (see previous memo).
We are pleased to feature some of the Members Associations and National Special Olympics Programmes who have signed the pledge, including the United Arab Emirates, Paraguay, Norway, Ukraine, Belgium, Papua New Guinea and Thailand.
All Members Associations and National Special Olympics Programmes who have signed the pledge will receive free badminton equipment to assist the further growth of the sport in their country.
Member Associations that are interested in exploring the possibility of a collaboration with their national Special Olympics counterpart and would like to see a draft copy of the pledge may contact the BWF Development Manager, Erica Khoo ([email protected]).
Special Olympics Badminton Athlete Divisioning Assessment Tools
To support the principle of fair and meaningful competition, the BWF and SOI have developed a new athlete divisioning assessment tool with supporting video clips. These resources assist coaches in assessing an athlete’s skill level across a range of 11 exercises.
