Raise a Racket for World Badminton Day
Join us and ‘Raise a Racket’ to celebrate World Badminton Day by organising exciting badminton events!
The BWF encourages all Continental Confederations, National Badminton Federations, schools, badminton clubs, universities, para sports clubs, Special Olympics programmes, badminton fans, NGOs and cities to host their own World Badminton Day activities in any way they can.
About World Badminton Day
The BWF celebrated the very first World Badminton Day on 5 July 2022.
It was over 90 years ago, on 5 July 1934, that the International Badminton Federation (now BWF) was founded.
In recognition of this significant date, and to make this a day of celebration for badminton globally, World Badminton Day is held annually on 5 July.
The day provides a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote all that we love about our game, and to get as many people as possible to pick up a racket for at least a day.
Why you should get involved
World Badminton Day brings people and communities together to experience fun and inclusive badminton, through a variety of active, engaging, and innovative badminton events.
This year we want to celebrate and ‘Raise A Racket’ to World Badminton Day while encouraging friends, family and community to get involved!
World Badminton Day ‘Raise a Racket’ Competition
This 5 July on World Badminton Day, the BWF is turning 90, and to celebrate we’re doing something special. We’re offering badminton fans a chance to win a trip to the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals in December 2024, Hangzhou, China.
The goal is to raise awareness about and inspire people worldwide to participate in World Badminton, while living active and healthy lifestyles. The campaign has four key themes:
- Raise a racket for the sport we love
- Raise a racket for your badminton family
- Raise a racket for the way badminton makes us feel
- Raise a racket for World Badminton Day
How to enter
Step 1. Take a photo/video of you raising a racket and playing badminton.
Step 2. Include #RaiseARacket, #WorldBadmintonDay and tag @bwf.sport
Step 3. Upload to Instagram.
Our objective is to get as many people around the world to raise a racket, demonstrating that badminton is a global, inclusive, and accessible ‘sport for all’, played anywhere, anytime.
Entries close 11:59pm (KL time) on 10 July 2024. Winner announced 17 July 2024. T&Cs apply.
