BWF Chief Operating Officer Position Advertised

BWF has today advertised the BWF Chief Operating Officer (COO) position as part of a planned transition for this senior management role in the BWF.

The successful candidate will replace the current COO who will retire in 2025 after more than 17 years with the BWF. It is envisaged that there will be a gradual transition during 2025 between the successful candidate and the existing COO in order to ensure a smooth onboarding with the BWF and this senior role.

The COO is a key person in the BWF management group to drive the operational and strategic future of the BWF and therefore BWF is searching for a person with strong and effective leadership skills at the highest level with a proven ability to inspire and motivate others.


COO Role / Responsibilities

Reporting to the Secretary General, the COO is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operations of the BWF, providing management, guidance, oversight and support for a range of functional areas: the Finance Department, Administration Department, BWF digital development projects and the BWF Integrity Unit.

As a member of the Management Team, the COO supports the functions of the Secretary General, especially in areas of governance and annual planning, holistic and connected strategic planning, policy development and staff management.

The COO:

  • provides leadership for the BWF office functions, facilities and services, administrative support services as well as implementation of programmes and projects to deliver on key areas of the BWF Strategic Plan and Strategic Implementation Plan.
  • is responsible for the planning and servicing of the BWF Council Meetings, including coordination of agenda’s and ensuring legal and governance areas are addressed and implemented. With the administration team the COO ensures that all logistical planning for Council and AGMs are effectively dealt with.
  • leads the team dealing with Membership servicing as well as supporting the overall governance implementation and development for BWF and its Membership.
  • is responsible for the planning related to institutional meetings and hospitality activities at the Olympic/Paralympic Games.
