Get Ready – BWF AGM 2023 Kuala Lumpur (KL)

Please find below some information on the BWF Annual General Meeting 2023, which will be held on Saturday 27 May 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It’s time to start your planning. Please see a few details on what you need to do now. We will send you more details at the end of next week.

Important Information

Here is some key information to help you get ready.

• In-person Meeting – delegate(s) must travel to Kuala Lumpur to attend the AGM – no virtual option is available. It’s a face-to-face meeting.
• Meeting Time – 10:00 – 17:00
• AGM Travel Grant – each Member in “good standing” will receive a travel support grant for 1 delegate. We will send you information next week.
• Accommodation – each Member must book and pay for accommodation at the official hotel. BWF will reimburse Members 3 nights accommodation for your Voting Delegate (if they attend both the Members’ Forum and the AGM).
• Continental Confederation (CCs) AGMs – some CCs will have their 2023 AGMs in KL on Thursday 25 May. Please check with your CC before you make a booking – flights / accommodation.

If your CC has its AGM 2023 in KL, BWF will reimburse your Voting Delegate for 1 additional nights accommodation (so 4 in total if they attend the CC AGM + Members Forum + BWF AGM).

2. Key Dates – Towards the AGM 2023

Here are the important dates and deadlines:

• Friday 3 March – Deadline for proposals for agenda.
• Friday 7 April – Notice, Agenda, Papers sent out.
• Friday 21 April – Amendments to proposals.
• Friday 26 May – Members’ Forum (09:00 – 16:00)
• Friday 26 May – Gala Dinner (19:00 – 22:00)
• Saturday 27 May 2023 – BWF AGM

3. Your Tasks

• Decide early who your delegate(s) will be.
• Ask your delegate to check the expiry date in his/her passport – they will need at least 6 months validity from the date of travel.
• Check if the delegate needs a visa to travel to Malaysia – a Visa Support Letter will be provided – more information next week.
• Check early for flight options for your delegate.
• Check whether your Continental Confederation will host its AGM in KL on Thursday 25 May (the day before the Members’ Forum). Then you know which days to check in / check out of the official hotel.
• Once you book you will need to tell us your flight arrival time / departure time and flight number – more information next week.

The Official Hotel, AGM Venue and other arrangements will be sent to you in the next 2 weeks. The AGM page of the BWF website will be updated regularly as plans are announced.
