New IHP Decision & Tournament Cancellation

1) Decision by the Independent Hearing Panel – BWF v. Liew & Gan

On 15 November 2024, the Independent Hearing Panel (IHP) issued its decision in the case of BWF v. Daren Liew & Jerry Gan Wye Leong, which involved potential breaches of the Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (the “Code”) and the Judicial Procedures.

With regards to Liew, the IHP found that he had breached both the Code and the Judicial Procedures. He was imposed a 12-month suspension from all badminton-related activities.

With regards to Gan, the IHP found that he had breached the Code. He was imposed a three-month suspension from all badminton-related activities.

Neither of these individuals appealed the IHP decision. The decision is therefore final, and can be found on the BWF website (linked here).

2) Tournament Cancellation

 Please note that the following tournament has been cancelled:

• Italian Junior 2025 – Junior International Challenge – 21-23 February 2025.
