Tournament Update – Macau Open 2022 / YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2022 Cancelled

Further to our most recent tournament update of 30 August 2022 (linked here), BWF is announcing today that the YONEX-SUNRISE Hong Kong Open 2022 (Super 500) and Macau Open 2022 (Super 300) have been cancelled (see attached press release).

This decision has been taken by Hong Kong Badminton Association (HKBA) and the Badminton Federation of Macau in close consultation with the BWF. For both tournaments, significant complexities remain around the ongoing COVID-19 situation and quarantine and health prevention measures put in place by local health authorities. The situation means that it is not viable to host the tournaments this year.
